The USDA said the items had “labels with a false USDA mark of inspection,” and should be considered misbranded and unsafe to eat. No confirmed reports of illness or injury have been reported. Judge orders Trump to restore White House access to CNN

federal judge has ordered the Trump administration to reinstate
White House access to CNN, MS NOW and Politico after they were
banned from the premises by President Donald Trump. Federal Judge
Timothy Kelly found that the revocation of reporters’ press
badges was done without “constitutionally adequate due process,”
according to the ruling issued early today. The outcome marks a
major legal blow to Trump, who said in a social media post Friday
that he was kicking the news outlets out “as a result of their
constant ‘reporting’ FAKE NEWS!” and added, “Other Fake News
Media Outlets to follow.” The White House is now expected to
restore the press passes it deactivated, though all eyes will be

ICE detains US citizen

Days after local police said ICE agents detained a US citizen
in Evanston, Illinois, and left him injured on the ground,
questions are being raised about what happened during the
targeted enforcement operation gone awry — and the circumstances
under which federal immigration officers can detain people.
Authorities said the man resembled a person agents were looking
for, while DHS said he refused to provide identification and did
not cooperate. Witnesses said he was left on the ground with
injuries before being taken to a hospital. Evanston police are
now investigating the encounter and reviewing video from the

Middle East tensions hang over UN gathering

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian
Authority President Mahmoud Abbas will address the United Nations
General Assembly today in New York City. Their speeches come
nearly three years after the October 7, 2023, terror attacks and
Israel’s subsequent war against Hamas in Gaza, which has led to
thousands of deaths and fueled regional instability. Netanyahu
said he will use the speech to defend Israel’s military actions
in Gaza. His visit comes as he faces pressure at home ahead of
his reelection fight next month, while Israel is also engaged in
conflicts in Lebanon and Iran. The Trump administration once
again denied visas to Abbas and other Palestinian Authority
officials this year, so Abbas will deliver his remarks by video.

A recall in the meat aisle

being recalled across the US over false inspection labels,
according to the United States Department of Agriculture. The
meat was produced on several dates before September 22 and was
shipped to A&D Foods, a distributor in Georgia, before being sent
to retailers and restaurants nationwide. The USDA said the items
had “labels with a false USDA mark of inspection,” and should be
considered misbranded and unsafe to eat. No confirmed reports of
illness or injury have been reported. But the recall has been
classified as Class I, the highest health risk, meaning there is
a “reasonable probability” that consuming the meat “will cause
serious adverse health consequences,” the agency said.  + Read
