The average raise in the US in 2026 is 3.5% (according to Mercer, The Conference Board, and Payscale).

Sounds decent, right?

A raise is a raise.

But here's the part nobody's talking about.

Overall inflation in the U.S. hit 3.8% over the last 12 months according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Not to mention, food prices are up 3.2%.

Just ground beef alone is up 18% since January last year…

And orange juice is up 22%.

Which means although that 3.5% raise most people get seems great…

It really isn’t.

Because prices just keep getting higher.

And look, this is the system working exactly as it's designed to work.

Your employer gives you just enough of a raise to make you feel appreciated, while everything around you quietly gets more expensive.
